This is made possible because May & Baker has a highly objective recruitment procedure that ensures that only people, who have not only demonstrated the right competencies but also the right mental and psychological disposition, are employed in the company. The company’s policy on continuing education, training and career development is one of the best in the industry. In a period of five years, the company sponsored not less than 40 employees through the Masters in Business Administration (MBA) programmes in many universities. Continuing education and training programmes have been very useful in imparting new skills to the employees while preparing them for higher levels of responsibility. It is compulsory for staff to attend at least one self development course every year at the expense of the company. May & Baker also provides the enabling environment for participatory management through the use of work teams and committees. These work teams and committees are empowered to take far-reaching decisions, which, experience has shown, have been instrumental in moving the company forward. CHAIRMAN Executive Management The top management of the company comprises of six highly versatile and deeply experienced professionals led by Mr. Nnamdi Okafor.
Mr. Nnamdi Okafor became the managing director/chief executive of the company in 2011. Prior to this appointment, he held the position of the Executive Director/Chief Operating Officer, May & Baker Foods Division, with responsibility for the operations of the food processing division of the company. Mr. Okafor, who has been with May & Baker since 1985, has held several other positions in the company including Executive Director Sales and Marketing with responsibility for locally manufactured products. He has also served on several senior positions such as District Sales Manager, Training Manager, Regional Sales Manager, National Sales Manager, Head, Sales & Marketing and Head, Sales & Distribution. Mr. Okafor holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) degree from the University of Ife, Ile-Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University, Ife) as well as Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Marketing from ESUT Business School, Lagos. He is a Fellow of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, member of the Nigerian Institute of Management and an alumnus of the Lagos Business School. |
